Pattu saree

Pattu saree

Pattu sarees, particularly Kanchipuram silk sarees, are deeply rooted in South Indian culture and history, symbolizing elegance and traditionThe term "pattu" itself means silk in Tamil. These sarees are known for their intricate weaving, vibrant colors, and motifs inspired by nature, mythology, and temple architecture. The history of pattu sarees is rich, with weaving traditions passed down through generations in places like Kanchipuram, a town known for its skilled silk weavers.

These sarees are woven with silk threads, often sourced from Karnataka, and involve intricate techniques like the Korvai technique, which allows for contrasting borders and pallus to be seamlessly attached to the body of the saree.

Pattu sarees feature a variety of motifs and patterns, including those inspired by nature (like peacocks, swans, and mangoes), mythology (like the two-headed eagle), and temple architecture.
